Swimming

All our pupils are given the opportunity to learn all of the skills they require to meet the National Curriculum Requirements.

These requirements are for each child in year 6 to be able to:

• swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
• use a range of strokes effectively
• perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.

This year pupils attend weekly swimming lessons at Guisborough Swimming Pool on a Monday afternoon and are given training in the pool to achieve the three national curriculum requirements as highlighted above.

We also offer after school clubs for children to enjoy swimming as a leisure activity and build their confidence in the water.
