Complaints Policy
The aim of this policy is to ensure that a concern or complaint is managed sympathetically, efficiently and at the appropriate level and resolved as soon as possible. Doing so is good practice, it is fair to those concerned and it helps to promote parents’ and students’ confidence in the Trust's ability to safeguard and promote welfare. We will try to resolve every concern or complaint in a positive way with the aim of resolving the issue in a transparent manner. The Trust expects that most concerns can be resolved informally and guarantees to treat seriously and confidentially all concerns whether raised informally or formally.

As an educational provider, Horizons Specialist Academy Trust “the Trust” has an obligation to publish a freedom of information statement, outlining how we will meet our duties under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and associated regulations. The development and effective implementation of this policy fulfils that requirement. More specifically, this policy outlines the Trust’s policy and procedures for the release and publication of private data and public records and providing applicants with advice and assistance throughout the duration of their requests. It also clarifies the position regarding the appropriate limit to the costs incurred by the Trust in obtaining any requested information, and on charging fees for its provision.

Therefore, we have produced this cover note/addendum to our existing Child Protection Policy to ensure full awareness and understanding of our protocols for managing child protection concerns during this time. Due to the current unprecedented circumstances of the COVID-19 virus, it is necessary that all Schools and Academies are prepared and have appropriate arrangements in place in relation to the management of any safeguarding or child protection concerns both on and off site during this time.
